In the lowlands of southern Iceland, you’ll encounter fertile farmland, majestic waterfalls, coastal plains, glaciers, and charming small villages. This is where the famous happenings in the Njáls saga took place (from old Norse literature).

The tour takes you to scenic locations and areas where the country’s history was shaped. You’ll have the opportunity to experience many of Iceland’s most impressive natural phenomena in a single day.

From Reykjavik, we drive south toward Hvolsvöllur and then continue on to the waterfall Seljalandsfoss, where you can actually walk behind the cascading water. The journey then continues to the somewhat larger waterfall Skógafoss, which in summer is surrounded by lush vegetation, and you can also get close to its base. If weather conditions allow, we will pass the glacier Sólheimajökull to witness its overwhelming size up close.

The tour continues to the village of Vík and the black lava beach Reynisfjara on the south coast, where we stop for lunch. In the surroundings of Vík, we find the impressive black volcanic-sand beaches, rich birdlife along the coastal cliffs, and unique lava formations. A varied day filled with unforgettable experiences and Iceland’s many striking contrasts.
