Hot Spring Hunt
This walking excursion starts in Hveragerði, the town of flowers and hot springs, which lies at the bottom of the beautiful valley Rekjadalur.
Up here warm natural spring water streams down the mountain Hellisheiði into the valley, making it a perfect place for a dip in the untouched streams. The valley has a large number of natural geothermal springs, and you can walk amongst bubbling warm puddles to vibrating hot lakes of water. After a dip in our chosen stream, we head back down to Hveragerði.
This excursion is a half-day trip suitable for anyone wanting to take in some of the Icelandic scenery on foot. The weather affects this very little; it is almost an even more extraordinary experience to do this while the wind is blowing or the rain falling. You can even take a warm outdoor bath while it’s snowing!
