Caving & Golden Circle
This tour starts with a pick-up from your hotel. Our first stop is the lava field near Bláfjöll outside of Reykjavík where the exciting underworld lava tunnels can be explored. The lava caves gives an interesting insight into how Iceland was created. After this wonderful experience we head onto Gullfoss, by many judges the most beautiful waterfall in Iceland. The waterfall has two stages and you can get up close to the powerful cascading water that gushes over the ledge into the deep ravine below.
Following a break for lunch (not included in price), we head off to experience the geothermic hot springs at Geysir, including Iceland’s most active geysir Strokkur. Strokkur spurts its powerful cascade of hot water out of the ground at regular 5-minute intervals, so you will have several opportunities to see the majestic cascades of water being thrown towards the sky. Take a wander among bubbling mud muddles and steaming underground springs – and really feel the Earth’s powerful core under your feet. Last stop on this tour is the beautiful national park Thingvellir, a UNESCO World heritage site. The world’s first parliament assembled here around the year 900, and this is also the meeting point for the European and the American continental plates. At Thingvellir, the crack that appears when these two continents slowly slide away from each other is very apparent.
