Whale Watching & Rafting
Our adventure starts at sea in the unforgettable world of whales and seabirds. Our vessel starts off from the old port of Reykjavík and will transport you to the natural habitat of the whales in just 20 minutes. Several different species of whale can usually be spotted, including minke whales, white beaked dolphins, porpoise, and hump back whales. Occasionally the majestic fin whales and sei whales will grace us with their presence, as do killer whales (orcas) from time to time. Birds like gannets, guillemot, cormorants, kittiwakes, arctic terns and many more also follow us. Our journey takes us past several islands where the famous puffins have colonies – an excellent chance to get that perfect photograph.
On for more adventure on the River Hvíta. This river is beautiful and fun-filled and an hours drive outside Reykjavík. For over 20 years this trip has been the most popular adventure activity in Iceland. Hvítá (pronounced Kveetau) is a perfect combination of calm river valleys and gorges and adrenalin pumping white rapids. The rafting stretch is 7 km long, and participants will get an opportunity to do a jump from a cliff on the way.
Nobody should leave Iceland without experiencing the power of the Icelandic river, or without having seen the dramatic riverbed Brúarhlöð on the Hvítá. Lastly, swimming in the glacier rivers of Iceland is also un-missable!
