U-drive Fjallabak South
Departure from Reykjavík. Start by driving on the main road along the south until you reach the town of Hella and the farm Keldur. From Keldur you enter the remote highland area of Fjallabak South. This route takes you along some scenic routes to lake Álftavatn and Hvanngil. From Hvanngil you visit the black sand desert of Mælifellssandur and travel north of Mýrdalsjökull glacier. The stunning green mountains surrounded by black sands are the identity of this area. Travel down from the highlands along Markárfljótsgljúfur canyon and Fljótshlíð valley with its numerous waterfalls. The last piece of the drive is on the main road from Hvolsvöllur to Reykjavík.

Program can change due to unforeseen road - or weather changes. The distance driven on the tour and the time you spend on it is of course based on how much and for how long you stop during the day. We recommend that you start the tour early in the morning to use the day.
