Gullfoss and Geysir & Langjökull Snowmobiling

Our trip leaves Reykjavík for the majestic Gullfoss, by many considered the most beautiful waterfall in Iceland. The waterfall has two stages and you can get close to the mighty water cascading over the ledges and into the ravine below.

The geothermic springs of Geysir are very near Gullfoss. This area boasts Iceland’s most active geysir, Strokkur. Strokkur regularly bursts its majestic column of hot water into the sky every five minutes, so you will have several opportunities to experience this majestic sight. Stroll amongst bubbling mud puddles and steaming hot springs – and really feel the power of the Earth under your feet.

The UNESCO world heritage site of Thingvellir national park is our next stop. The world’s oldest parliament, Alltinget, was assembled here as early as around year 900, and this is also where the European and American continental plates meet. At Thingvellir the escarpment that is caused by the two plates slowly parting can be seen very clearly.

At last we get even closer to Iceland’s wilderness by snowmobiling on the glacier at Langjökull, Iceland’s second biggest glacier. An exciting one-hour adventure through endless white snowdrifts that will leave memories for life!

Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon & Boat trip

On the way from Reykjavik to Skaftafell you can find some of Iceland's most beautiful natural wonders, among these Skaftafell Mountain is one of the highlights. From here, you can stand and take in a view of Iceland's tallest mountain, the 2110 meter tall Hvannadalshnjúkur, surrounded by 3 glaciers. The journey continues onto Jökulsárlon, a glacial lagoon created by the melting ice from the Breidmerkurjökull glacier. It is possible to take a short optional boat trip on the lagoon, as we will spend around 2 hours in the area. On the way back towards Skaftafell the landscape beneath the glaciers is largely black volcanic sand and gravel, a sight worth seeing and an interesting journey.

Price 2019 - 2020 | £ 180

Included: Coach transport on trip and pick from hotel approximately 30 minutes before departure. Because the coach is a large vehicle it is possible that the entry/exit onto the coach does not happen directly in front of your hotel due to narrow streets. Boat trip on the Glacial Lagoon.

The Wonders of Snæfellsnes

The Snæfellsnes peninsula in western Iceland is a place shrouded in mystery. The sleeping and glacier covered volcano Snæfellsnes overlooks the peninsula, surrounded by landscape formed by the sea and lava. Snæfellsnes has fascinated mankind the world over ever since Jules Verne described the volcano as the ”entrance to the centre of the Earth” in his book ”A Journey to the Centre of the Earth” in 1871.

A coach transfers you to Snæfellsnes and once there we walk from Arnarstapi with it’s many rock formations. After lunch we continue our walk along Djúpalónssandur, a black volcanic beach surrounded by mighty cliffs and mountains. The ”Nybyggermuseet” museum shows us how Iceland as a nation developed, and how its people lived during the course of the centuries. The stories about the first settlers in Iceland are unique, as no other country in the world has such thorough written documentation of the conditions at the time, and of how people lived back then.

Horses and Glaciers

Horseback Riding and Glacier Hiking

Imagine yourself riding a beautiful and experienced Icelandic horse just like the Vikings before you, then going for a hike on the Solheimajökull glacier, all on the same day!

The journey begins with a 1,5-2 hour ride in true Viking spirit. Our destination depends on the wind, weather and the participant’s riding capabilities. After a traditional Icelandic meal (the menu varies according to season) our journey takes us to one of the largest glaciers in Europe, Mýrdalsjökull. Once there we equip ourselves with crampons and glacier safety gear and start exploring the fantastical landscape of ice sculptures, ice hills and deep crevasses that hide the secret intense blue colour of the ice. This trip is a brilliant combination of traditional riding and beautiful scenery.

Golden Circle Special by Super Jeep

We travel by jeep from Reykjavik and drive east towards the UNESCO world heritage site of Thingvellir national park. The world’s oldest parliament, Alltinget, was assembled here as early as around year 900, and this is also where the European and American continental plates meet. Our journey continues along Thingvallavatn and the mountain road Lyngsdalsheidi on our way to the famous Geysir area, where hot springs gush water into the sky at regular intervals. After a walk among the geysirs and lunch we drive on to the ”golden waterfall” Gullfoss, by many considered Iceland’s most beautiful. From there we continue to Langjökull, Iceland’s second largest glacier, where we stop and embark on a snowmobile or walking adventure on the glacier. We then head back to Reykjavík.

Note! On some winter days, conditions prevent access onto the glacier. The snowmobiling will then be moved to the mountains nearer Reykjavík.
